North Plains, Aug 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Juli Inkster suffered major heartbreak when she was disqualified from the LPGA Safeway Classic for using a weighted ‘donut’. The Hall of Famer – Juli Inkster had just finished her round, when she was informed about her disqualification.

Fifty-year-old Juli was astonished about the sudden turn of events, but she didn’t raise any tantrum at that moment. She quickly left the venue in a course shuttle.

The LPGA Director of Tournament Competitions – Sue Witters later announced that the weighing aid was noticed by a viewer on TV and he then contacted the officials and notified them about it. Sue also revealed that when the matter was brought to Juli’s attention, then she was very surprised because she was simply unaware that she had broken any rule.

Sue said that, “The rules staff here made the decision on the rule and we took it one step further and called the USGA. We would have loved to have some wiggle room on that. But it’s pretty cut and dried. Being the professional she is, there wasn’t much to say once the decision was read.”

Later Juli said in a statement that, “I had a 30-minute wait and I needed to loosen up. It had no effect on my game whatsoever, but it is what it is. I’m very disappointed.”
