Juan Manuel Marquez Knocks Out Michael Katsidis, Retains His Title

Las Vegas, Nov 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The highly anticipated match between Juan Manuel Marquez and Michael Katsidis turned out to be a visual treat to the supporters of the former. The match was held at MGM Grand Garden Arena yesterday where Juan Manuel Marquez defeated his opponent and retained his WBA and WBO lightweight titles. The former defeated the latter at 2:14 of the ninth round when Referee Kenny Baylis stopped the bout and announced Juan Manuel Marquez as the winner.
Michael Katsidis delivered hard punches to Juan Manuel Marquez but the latter managed to endure the blows and then gave ten straight punches to the Australian fighter. After sometime the referee blew the whistle and declared Juan Manuel Marquez as the winner in the ninth round TKO. Michael Katsidis said that though he was well prepared for the match, yet he got caught by his opponent during the heated exchange. About the winner, Michael Katsidis later said that he is an experienced fighter though he gave his best shot to win the fight.
Michael Katsidis knocked down Juan Manuel Marquez in the third round but the Mexican managed to get his rhythm back. Juan Manuel Marquez said that he was completely surprised by Michael Katsidis’ blow but he knew how to come out of that situation with his planning and strategies. He also said that his combinations and conditionings helped him to get back into the main game. Juan Manuel Marquez praised the Australian and said that the latter is a valiant and resistant fighter and added that both the fighters worked really hard to win the title.
