Sep 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. has been arrested yesterday on a theft charge which stemmed from domestic violence, the police says. The complaint was lodged by his former girlfriend Josie Harris, who is also the mother of his three children. The Las Vegas police officer Bill Cassell said that Floyd Mayweather was booked on a grand larceny charge at the Clark County Jail. The former girlfriend of American boxer said that he took lot of items from her home, including her cell phone. This arrest came just one week after he launched a racially charged, expletive video attack on Manny Pacquiao.

On the other hand, his lawyer Richard Wright denied all the allegations against the American professional boxer and said that Floyd Mayweather surrendered to the authorities and he would co-operate in the investigation. A reputed media source reported that the boxer was released later on $3,000 bail. Floyd Mayweather refused to comment anything to the media. A source close to the police department said that, Floyd Mayweather can face up-to five years in prison if he found guilty of taking items valued at less than $2,500. The police reported that Floyd Mayweather is scheduled to appear in the court on November 9, 2010.

Last Thursday Josie Harris lodged a police complain and sought a Family Court protection order claiming that Floyd Mayweather pulled her hair, punched her in the head and twisted her arm. This is not the first time that Floyd Mayweather is accused of hitting her girlfriend. Previously he was set free by the Nevada jury in July 2005 after he was accused of hitting and kicking Josie Harris. He was even convicted of misdemeanor charges and received a suspended one year sentence.
