Joshna, Suchde advance in squash Challenger
January 20th, 2010 - 9:23 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Jan 20 (IANS) Only two Indians, top seed Joshna Chinappa and fifth-seeded birthday boy Siddharth Suchde survived first round matches in the WISPA and PSA Challenger squash tournaments here Wedneday.
The biggest upset of the day was the defeat of fourth seed Dipika Pallikal who blew a 2-0 lead and lost to qualifier Siyoli Waters of South Africa 3-2 in the $8,000 WISPA event that also saw the exit of Anwesha Reddy, Aprajitha Balamurugan and Anaka Alankamony besides “lucky loser” Surbhi Mishra who went down to Joshna.
In the $10,000 men’s competition, Suchde remained the lone Indian in the fray after Ravi Dixit, Abhishek Pradhan, Gaurav Nandrajog, Naresh Kumar and A. Parthiban stumbled at the first hurdle.
