Jordi Alba joins Barcelona
June 28th, 2012 - 9:19 pm ICT by IANSBarcelona, June 28 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Barcelona have signed Valencia left-back Jordi Alba for 14 million euros on a five-year deal, the Catalan giants said Thursday.
The 23-year-old, who is with his national team at Euro 2012 in Ukraine, is expected to arrive in Barcelona after the tournament final.
Alba has played every minute of Spain’s run to the final including the 4-2 win on penalties over Portugal Wednesday.
Spain will face either Germany or Italy Sunday in Kiev.
“FC Barcelona can announce that it has reached an agreement today with Valencia CF for the transfer of player Jordi Alba, pending the player’s medical examination when he comes to the city of Barcelona next week,” the club said in a website statement.
Alba won the first of his 10 caps in the penultimate Euro 2012 qualifier against Scotland, and racked up 92 appearances and 10 goals for Valencia.
