Auckland, Sept 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former New Zealand rugby star Jonah Lomu has been admitted to a hospital in Auckland. The hospital has stated the condition of Lomu as stable. His family has refused to make any further comments saying they will only do so when they know what is wrong with the former New Zealand rugby legend.

Lomu has undergone kidney transplant in the past and it is not clear if it had anything to do with the 2004 procedure. Earlier this month, Lomu was at the Rugby World Cup during the opening ceremony where he was registered as a special guest.

The head coach of the New Zealand rugby team, Steve Hansen, described the news as a sad one. He told reporters that, “I heard that (he was in hospital) this morning, which is really sad news. Our thoughts are with the big fella and hopefully he makes a speedy recovery.”

Lomu’s wife Nadine also spoke to the press shortly after her husband was admitted at the hospital. When the reporters got to her, she revealed that, “All I can say is my husband is stable and until we know exactly what’s wrong, we are not prepared to comment.”
