grudenNov 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jon Gruden, the ex-coach of Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the current ESPN football analyst has been approached by the Miami Hurricanes, to take over the position of the head coach. The team has fired Randy Shannon the day before yesterday because of the poor performance the team delivered under him. Miami’s loss to South Florida in its regular season finale with 7-5 loss on Saturday night and several other preceding humiliated defeats, prompted the University Of Miami Athletic director Kirby Hocutt, to take the decision.

Randy Shannon, in a telephonic interview said that he is extremely hurt and disappointed. He wished he had some more time to prove himself. He said that since 1984, he has been treating his team like a family and it is really disappointing to get thrown out of it. However, his dismissal seems to be a good opportunity or the team and the prospective new head coach Jon Gruden. The sports authorities of the University had a deal with him and reportedly offered him with a sum of $3 million annually. He also received a “parameter” of an offer with the right to recruit people and take other decisions for the team. Settling for a new head coach in such a short span of time made many people speculate that may be Jon Gruden was approached before the decision of firing Randy Shannon was taken.

However, as Jon Gruden’s induction in the Miami Hurricanes seems more inevitable, people are pondering over whether he would be able to continue with ESPN. He has confirmed that he is not going to leave ESPN and Monday Night Football as he is committed to both of them. He loves working with the entire crew and will keep on striving to get better at his job.
