Jan 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Till date, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir has always avoided questions regarding his sexual orientation, but reports finally confirm that he is gay. In his new autobiography named, “Welcome to My World”, Johnny Weir finally admits that he is gay. This 26-year-old flamboyant figure skater has avoided questions regarding his sexuality all through his career. He officially came out of his closet in his soon to be released autobiography, “Welcome to My World”.

In 2006, he wrote in his website, to all his fans that he does not feel the need to disclose his sexual being; he could sleep with anyone he chose to and that it does not effect on how he is performing on ice. Johnny Weir is known for dramatic skating style and his extravagant costumes. The figure skater has won the title of US figure skating three times. In “Welcome to My World”, Johnny Weir says that he is not ashamed to be what he is. He said that he loves his life and accepts the way he is. He goes on to say that there is nothing wrong in being unique. He is very proud of everything that he is and what he would become. In a short interview given to a leading magazine, he says that his parents never made him feel odd, although I he did not definitely act like other kids. He also said that it was because of his parents that he had started to believe in himself.

Johnny Weir also revealed that he was so busy focusing on his professional aspects, that he did not consider revealing his sexuality to be hat important, although at the age of 18, he admitted to his mother that he was gay. The skater is taking a long break from his usual schedule and is expected to return for the 2014 Winter Olympics. His autobiography hits the stores on Jan. 11.
