The news from the NASCAR racing circuit is not a very good one. For Benson fans, it is going to be a trying time. NASCAR driver Johnny Benson, it is reported, has met with an accident on Saturday night at the Berlin Raceway. He is in very critical condition and is admitted at a hospital in Michigan, the Spectrum Hospital.

The accident occurred when Benson crashed his ISMA super modified car while on the circuit. His car caught fire and was ablaze after it crashed against Larry Lehnert’s car on the track. Benson was pulled out from his car quickly, as soon as the fire broke out. He was awake and conscious hen he was being pulled out of the car pit. Then attempts to dowse the fire were taken up, which was successful. Lehnet is reportedly not hurt in the accident.

A spokesperson from the hospital told a Michigan television station, Grand Rapids, that Beson is expected to recover soon and be fine. Though his condition is reported to be serious, he is stable till now. There has been no further deterioration in his condition in the hours of his admit in the hospital.

It has been a really long tedious week for the defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Johnny Benson. He had lost his ride earlier this week at the Red Horse Racing. The reason for that is that his team had closed due to lack of sponsorship. Benson is a NASCAR favorite for his driving skills as well as his stint on TV for many years. He has made appearances on TV with Michael Waltrip and Kenny Schrader on Monday nights.
