Sanders 3Aug 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) John Randle’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame was not just an emotional moment for the veteran player but also the fans. He received the honor in a ceremony on Saturday night and thanked the Minnesota Vikings for giving him a chance to prove himself.

John Randle expressed his gratitude to the Minnesota Vikings by saying that they believed in him and gave him a chance to play defensive line in spite of other teams thinking that he was undersized. Undrafted from Texas in 1990, John Randle proved himself in his 9 year stint with the Minnesota Vikings with an average of 11.5 per game. He is also considered the leader among the defensive tackles in terms of career sacks. He has also played with the Seattle Seahawks after his 9 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He retired with total of 137.5 career sacks and was selected for 6 straight All Pro teams and was chosen for 7 Pro Bowls overall.

John Randle is known for his rivalry with Brett Favre who he sacked the most in his career. Brett Favre said that John Randle was one of the toughest defense player he had faced and on artificial turf he was ‘unblockable’. John Randle was also in the news when one of his commercials came under heavy criticism from the PETA. The commercial was also in reference to his sporting rivalry with Brett Favre where John Randle is seen chasing after a chicken with the jersey of Brett Favre on it and then later barbecuing it. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in the second year of eligibility.
