Joel Nielsen Appointed Athletic Director At Kent State

joenSouth Dakota, Mar 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Joel Nielsen has been appointed in the post of the Athletic Director in the Kent State University. So far, he had been holding the same post with the University of South Dakota. The appointment with the Kent State University is a significant one for the athletic director, for it takes him one step toward the achievement of his goal, because the Kent State University is listed as a Division 1 School. Moreover, it is also famed to have a football program that is eligible for the pro-bowl. Joel Nielsen himself admitted that the job was a great opportunity that did not deserve to be missed, and that he had been extremely fortunate to have it come his way.

Joel Nielsen had held the post of the athletic director with the University of South Dakota for the past seven years, since 2003. He had been referred to the Kent State University when there had been an opening for the post by his boss at Wake Forest, Ron Wellman. He had been chosen the new athletic director of the university from among 3 finalists. In the initial stages, there had been a total of 70 people present for the interview, which took place in a number of rounds.

However, Joel Nielsen admitted that it had been a tough decision for him to finally bid goodbye to the University of South Dakota and all his students. In fact, he has declared that he would be working with the University till the early days in May. It has not yet been decided as to who would be taking up his position in the interim, before a new athletic director has been appointed.
