joeSyracuse, Mar 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) West Virginia won the game against Kentucky in the basketball tournament of the NCAA. The win had been a rather surprising one, and a greatly disheartening one for the fans of the Kentucky team, considering that they were being touted as the number one seed in the tournament. West Virginia won over Kentucky by a margin of 73-66, a win which could be, for the most part, attributed to Joe Mazzulla, who led the team to a wonderful win in a spectacular turnaround of his own. The player’s performance in the game seemed to reflect the confidence that his coach and the other members of the team had in him.

However, things had not been the same right from the beginning. Joe Mazzulla, once touted as one of the most dependable players in the team was clearly having trouble shooting with his left hand, on which he had undergone surgery just a few days back, a surgery which, according to the coach of the team, was rarely ever performed on a basketball player. However, despite that fact, he was brought back into the team when his substitution, Darryl Bryant, had to be benched after he broke a foot in practice.

In the game against the University of Kentucky, Joe Mazzulla started for the first time in this season, and since he had had the operation. This game is also going to be remembered by him for another reason: he managed to score 17 points, the highest in his career so far. Moreover, he made 3 assists, one rebound and two steals.
