Jockey Randy Romero And Point Given Along With Two Others Enter Racing Hall Of Fame

jo1May 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Friday, the Hall of Fame officials announced that Jockey Randy Romero and Point Given who has remained the former Horse of the Year have been elected by the 182 members voting panel to the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame. The other two names that were announced with that of Randy Romero and Point Given are Azeri and Best Pal. The news was being anticipated for long as Jockey Randy Romero has to his credit more than 4000 race wins during his career that spans for 26 years. The four have been elected in the contemporary category by the members of the voting panel. Reports claim that on June 9, the Hall’s Historic Review Committee will make the announcement of its selections and complete the 2010 inductions.

Randy Romero’s career spanned from 1973 to 1999. During his career, Randy Romero was the regular rider of Personal Ensign and Go for Wand. He is considered as one of the best jockeys till date and has to his credit the win of 4,294 races that include 122 graded stakes. Randy Romero won the Breeder’s Cup races riding both Personal Ensign and Go for Wand. However, that is not entire story, he has winning riding titles at around 10 tracks and reports claim that Randy Romero’s mounts at the races totaled to around $75 millions and more.

As for the horses, Point Given was the Horse of the Year of 2001. He finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby in 2001 and went on to win the final two legs of the Preakness, Belmont and the Triple Crown. He also became the first horse to win four races at a streak.
