Joannie Rochette Soars In Figure Skating Short Program

Vancouver, British Columbia, Feb 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This was a performance that Canadian figure skater Joannie Rochette would surely remember for the rest of her life. The 24 year old much acclaimed skater who lost her mother during the weekend, displayed an amazing feat which enabled her to win the third position in the women’s figure skating short program on Tuesday at the Winter Olympics at Vancouver.
Despite suffering from the intense grief, the Canadian skater displayed a performance which was successful in earning the accolades of the large number of crowds as well as the judges. Following her scintillating performance, the judges bestowed her with a personal best score of 71.36 points which makes her one of the prime contenders who would be competing in the next level of the championship. Although while skating gracefully to the music of La Cumparsita, Joannie Rochette seemed to be in full control of her emotions, the skater could not hold back her tears when she finally concluded her performance as tears rolled down her cheeks as she went and hugged her coach Manon Perron.
The Canadian skater surely managed to steal the show as she gave a power packed performance just two days after her 55 year old mother Therese passed away due to a cardiac arrest. The tragic news was broken to her by her father with many people anticipating that the Joannie Rochette would not be able to participate in the event. However, the Canadian skater amazed her fans as well as her critics when she confirmed that she would be taking part in the figure skating championship. Not only did she perform, but she went on to deliver her personal best score.
