Jitender close to qualify for Beijing OlympicsMarch 19th, 2008 - 6:38 pm ICT by admin
New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) Just three bouts stand between Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jitender Kumar and Beijing Olympics, after he stormed into the quarterfinals of the second Asian Boxing qualifying tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Haryana boxer Tuesday stunned 2003 World Championship bronze medallist Nauman Karim of Pakistan in the light flyweight category.
He will next face less formidable Chinese Gao Linzhiof, who got a bye in the first round.
Jitender has a bright chance of booking his ticket to Beijing in this tournament, as all the three-medal winners in this category will qualify for Olympics.
