jim1Aug 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jim Thome pulled off a miraculous win for the Minnesota Twins against his former team Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, August 17 at his team’s home plate. Considering that the Chicago White Sox might have underestimated the hits left in the veteran as they let him go recently, the win came off as an emotional one for Jim Thome as well as his new manager. Hitting a walk off homer in the 10th inning might just have rubbed salt into the wounds of the Chicago White Sox manager who had earlier urged his team’s authorities to let go of Jim Thome.

The game on Tuesday was full of ups and downs itself with the Minnesota Twins conceding the Chicago White Sox with a healthy lead from the very first innings. They, however, fought back hard to come back into the game. It was Alexei Rodriguez who pulled it up for the Chicago White Sox towards the end with a homer in the ninth innings. With a one run lead in at the beginning of the 10th inning the former team of Jim Thome might never have anticipated a humongous homer from the almost 40 veteran to snatch victory for his new team from right under their nose.

Minnesota Twins manager, Ron Gardenhire made his happiness evident to the media when he said that there was a reason why he brought Jim Thome to the team and this was one of them. The home-run takes Jim Thome tally to 17 for the season and 581 in his career, earning him the tenth position in the all time home run list.
