According to the sources, former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator, Jim Johnson took his last breath on Tuesday afternoon. The 68 year old defense coordinator had been on a leave of absence from the team to undergo cancer treatments that had curbed the latter half of his life.

Johnson was regarded as one of the NFL’s top defensive minds during his stint for a prolonged 22 years as an assistant coach and joined the staff of Eagles coach Andy Reid in the year 1999.

Johnson’s trademark tactics had been appreciated by the players world wide. Opponents were literally dazzled by his creative blitz where as his players always praised his straight forward approach.

According to inside sources, Johnson’s health deteriorated gradually during the recent months thus forcing him to opt out from his job. He was even relegated to coaching from a motorized cart. During the off season, The Eagles announced that Jim Johnson had to take a leave of absence in order to battle with the prolonged disease that was taking a toll on his life. The Eagles, thus announced their secondary coach Sean McDermott as their interim defense coordinator. Later on the “interim” tag was removed from McDermott’s title just before the training camp resumed. This move meant that Jim had been going through some serious problems regarding his health. This Tuesday afternoon the legacy of Jim Johnson ended as he was pronounced dead (according to The Eagles).

Johnson is survived by his mourning wife Vicky, two children and four grand children. His death calls for a mourning moment for all the football aficionados.
