London, May 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The track and field athlete Jessica Ennis has been labelled as overweight by a high rank UK Athletics official, according to her coach Toni Minichiello.

Minichiello, who has worked as Ennis’ trainer since she was 11, claims that one of the organization’s officials told him that he believes that the athlete has gained too much weight.

Jessica Ennis, MBE, is regarded by sports commentators as one of UK’s leading medal hopes. This Sheffield-born heptathlete specialises in 100m hurdles and multi-eventing disciplines. Ennis is the current European heptathlon champion and is a former World indoor pentathlon champion and World heptathlon champion. She currently lives in Sheffield and got engaged to her boyfriend Andy Hill two years ago.

Ennis has received media attention because of her remarkable looks. Ennis has achieved celebrity status after becoming the poster girl for the London Olympics, modelling Britain’s Olympic kit, which has been designed by Stella McCartney. Her coach dismissed the criticism.

She is a columnist for The Times newspaper, an Ambassador for the Jaguar Academy of Sport, and participated in a number of promotional campaigns for Aviva, Powerade, BP, Adidas, Omega watches and Olay ‘Essentials’.

UK Athletics refused to comment on Minichiello’s allegations.
