Jesse Hockett Dies Of Electrocution Days Before Big Race

May 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jesse Hockett died in a tragic accident on Wednesday while preparing his trailer on Wednesday. The American sprint racer, 26, nicknamed ‘The Rocket’ for his speed and handling, died of electrocution in his shop in Warsaw which happens to be his birthplace as well. He was preparing the trailer for his 5 upcoming races this weekend according to sources.
Born in 1983, Jesse Hockett was a promising prospect who had 130 career wins and dominated the ASCS National Tour Point standings. Just 3 points behind Shane Stewart in the standings, Jesse Hockett had a fantastic run last weekend. He won State Fair Speedway in Sedalia on Friday, the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon on Saturday, and dominated at the Double X Speedway in California on Sunday.
His death has been mourned by friends and family who posted R.I.P messages on the website where his death was announced. Jesse Hockett was due to perform this weekend in a number of important events that included a U.S. Auto Club card in Terre Haute, Indiana and an ASCS event in Jetmore, Kansas. The 26 year old racer is survived by his wife Tina Marie. Jesse Hockett had 21 starts this season, winning 5 A features. He was in the Top 5 A feature finishers 14 times this season. 2009 was his greatest season with 22 wins. The American racing circle is also devastated by the news of his death. Jesse Hockett was known for his helpful attitude and big heart. Sources close to his friends have revealed that he was a simple guy with a huge racing talent. Details of his funeral will be announced shortly.
