Jerry Rice Named Greatest Player In History

Nov 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The NFL Network has named San Francisco wide-receiver Jerry Rice as the Greatest NFL player in history on Thursday. The network had announced that it is preparing a list of the top 100 NFL players in history and it cooked up a great storm among the fans in the last two months. Jim Brown has earned the second spot but several sports exerts have shown disappointment in the rankings.
Jerry Rice has career records that many believe are unlikely to be broken. The wide receivers has the highest number of touchdowns, the most yards and receiving as well. The panel that made the rankings consisted of former football coaches, experts from the media and NFL Films President Steve Sabol. The top ten on the list includes 7 offensive players and three defensive players. The new generation fans also have a lot to look forward to on the list as Peyton Manning as made it in the 8th spot.
Jerry Rice has also been selected for the Pro-Football Hall of Fame class in his first year of eligibility. Known for his discipline and dedication to the sport, Jerry Rice has played the most games as a wide receiver, 303. In his career spanning 20 season, Jerry Rice has been named the best player in history earlier as well. Jerry Rice was a first round draft in 1985 by the San Francisco 49ers. Joe Montana, who is also in the top 10 of the NFL Network’s list of Greatest Football players in history, formed a formidable pair with Jerry Rice in the 80s when both the players reached the peak of their form.
