Jerry Jones certainly had ambitions to beat the record that was set in the 1980 Super Bowl XIV at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California but alas his dreams were marred due to some issues with the seating arrangement.

From what record shows, the 1980 Super Bowl XIV at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena till date holds the highest record for the maximum number of audience set at 103,985. Had there been no seating issues last night at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, then it was quite likely that Jerry Jones would have surpassed the all-time record of the 1980 game. As per record, the audience who matched the live action between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers where the former won the game by a score of 31-25, comprised of a total 103,219 which means it fell short of a 766 for setting a new record. A construction issue in the stadium led to the displacement of 1,200 fans after they had already arrived at the venue.

Interestingly, out of the 103,219 attendants, it was a total of 3,000 who watched the match on the giant high-definition screens that there alloted for them in party plazas, instead of getting to witness a direct action inside the stadium. About 400 ardent football fans were turned away which left them fuming and refunds were also made available. Stadium officials said that the pending construction work was definitely a big concern for them and since they did not want any kind of accident during the annual event, they had no other option but to turn some away.
