Jerry Hughes Picked By Indianapolis Colts In First Round

jack2Indianapolis, Apr 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Defensive end Jerry Hughes was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the 31st pick of the 2010 NFL draft on Thursday night. The inclusion of Jerry Hughes in the team is likely to further improve the defense of the Indianapolis Colts which has already witnessed a significant development in the last season. The 21 year old defensive end would be joining the team as the 12th first round draft pick out of the TCU.

Following the announcement of the Indianapolis Colts’ decision to pick Jerry Hughes, Colts president Bill Polian added that the defensive player had been on the radar of the team for quite some time now. While talking about the newly included player, the Colts president implied that one of the main reasons which supposedly lead to the selection of Jerry Hughes in the team was the fact that he provided widespread flexibility to the team to establish a third down packages with other defensive ends. Jerry Hughes addition in the team also seems to have been welcomed by the head coach Gary Patterson who has added that the player is a remarkable defensive end who would work really hard to take the team forward.

Jerry Hughes joins the Indianapolis Colts with a huge array of recognition that hold testimony to his control over the game. The defensive end is known to be the semi-finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which recognizes the best defensive player in college football. Moreover, Jerry Hughes was also honored with the Lott Trophy as well as the Ted Hendricks Award, which is given to players for their noteworthy contribution to the game.
