July 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sought after free agent Jermaine O’Neal has released a statement to the media saying that he has shortlisted three teams for signing. Boston Celtics, Dallas Cowboys and Denver Nuggets are among the three teams chosen by the star who also said that these teams are going to compete for the championship next season.
Jermaine O’Neal is reportedly in talks with the three teams at the moment and all are expected to offer a portion of the mid-level exception to sign him. He has described it as the most important decision of his career as it might be his last run for the title. With an average of 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds from the 70 games with the Miami Heats last year, Jermaine O’Neal is considered one of the hot picks among the free agents.
According to some NBA experts the Boston Celtics would be the best bet for the veteran from Miami Heats because they have the present line up to make it to the finals quite easily. Jermaine O’Neal had a great last season which saw his shooting percentage cross the 50 mark. He also had a robust PER of 17.9. According to certain scouting reports he has not been able to penetrate high quality defenses in certain matches of the previous season. He had failed badly against the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs. Some experts believe that age has made him more of a jump-shooting big. He has also suffered a couple of ankle and knee injuries in the final stages of the last season. By and large his skills in the center make him one of the best players to lead the center charge in the NBA.
