Jelena Dokic has come up with one of the most shocking revelations about her familial ties. The revelation was not an unexpected one because there was news about her traumatic relationship with her father. Dokic has disclosed the fact that her father, Damir had physically abused her in the earlier part of her career. In a recent interview with one of the leading Australian magazines, Dokic mentions that she had been “through a lot worse than anybody on the tour. I can say that with confidence.”

Jelena Dokic has also mentioned that she had left her family in 2002 in order to save herself from physical abuse. When the reporters tried to contact Damir and talk to him about these allegations, he hung the telephone. At the present moment, Damir lives in Belgrade, Serbia. In spite of all the odds, Dokic made her presence felt in the international Tennis scenario when she made it into the quarter finals of Australian Tennis Open.

It will be interesting to note that even when she was playing in the Australian Open in the month of January, her father was threatening to make a comeback. But at 25, Dokic has been mature enough not to pay heed to any of these matters. Dokic’s comeback in the tennis scene was quite fascinating because she was playing after three years. It was most heart-rending to see that the crowd was continuously supporting her, throughout her games. Jelena Dokic mentioned that tennis formed the most important part of her life and she did not see any possibilities of reuniting with her father.
