jamie1Daytona Beach, Florida, Feb 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jamie McMurray won the marathon race of the NASCAR season opener that lasted for over six hours. While it was undoubtedly one of the most strenuous, and wildest, of all the NASCAR season openers, the fact that how important the win was for the NASCAR driver was driven home when he burst into tears. Not once, but two times. This as understandable, since last year, around this time itself, he had been outed by the Roush Fenway Racing. He won the Daytona 500 by outracing Dale Earnhardt Jr. This is not the first win in a race by Jamie McMurray. Before this, he had won three other races.

However, this was the first time that the 33-year-old driver from Joplin won the biggest of the races at NASCAR. It was an exciting finish to the terribly long race, and very unpredictable, as the final outcome to the race was decided only during the last two laps. Among all the other leaders in the race, Jamie McMurray was the last, coming 21st, in the race record parade. He led only in two laps in the whole race, the final two. This is a record of sorts, considering that he possibly becomes the first Daytona 500 winner to have led in such a few number of laps.

Jamie McMurray broke down in tears before the assembled press, and before that, in Victory Lane itself. Amidst his sobs, he expressed his gratitude to Felix Sebates and Chip Ganassi, saying that he is thankful to have the chance of being back in the race once more, emphasizing on how much it means to be back.
