Jamia Millia hosted 700 volunteers during Games
October 21st, 2010 - 5:28 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS) The Jamia Millia Islamia university housed around 700 volunteers of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) from various states during the Commonwealth Games, a university official said Thursday.
Around 500 men and 200 women sportspersons, including senior coaches, were accommodated in various hostels of the Jamia Millia Islamia.
Most of the volunteers were from Manipur and Assam, some came from Kerala, and a few others from neighbouring states such as Punjab and Haryana.
“The budding sportspersons from different fields such as basketball, judo, gymnastics, weightlifting and athletics enjoyed their stay on the campus,” the official informed.
“They were particularly impressed with the security arrangements,” the official added.
