Los Angeles, July 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ex-Los Angeles Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell was taken into custody by the police from his home on Monday afternoon. The quarterback is accused of illegal possession of codeine syrup which is regarded to be a controlled substance. The media was informed of the arrest by Mobile County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lori Myles who said that the cops had the player while they were on an on undercover investigation. The cops however didn’t find any prescription for the codeine syrup.
After JaMarcus Russell paid a bail payment of $2,500 bail he was released from the Mobile Metro Jail. However he shall have to make an appearance before the court on July 20. JaMarcus Russell have been a primary suspect for illegal codeine possession. Besides many of his teammates have complained about his weight issues and his work ethic. Codeine syrup is said to enhance the effects of alcohol when a person consumes it on daily basis. It is also used in “purple drank” and “sizzurp” which are recreational drinks. The Raiders refrained from making any comment on the case and even the players agents were reluctant to say anything. Ex Oakland teammates of JaMarcus Russell said that the news is no big surprise for them as all know how he liked to “party and chill”.
JaMarcus Russell’s case is reminiscent of Houston rapper Al D who used to consume codeine syrup. It was way back in the year of 2007 when the rapper told the media that he had no idea what he was consuming but he like it. However, the codeine syrup also acts as a appetizer as because he was 180 when he started consuming codeine and within a couple of months he was on 240.
