Jake Rosholt, a three time NCAA champion at Oklahoma State, wasn’t actually playing to his strength as a grappler. The initial stages of the match witnessed the fighter struggling immensely to gain an upper hand over his opponent Leben. Rosholt was down 2-0 in the fight on one scorecard and was reportedly tied on 1-1 on the other two.

The turning point of the match was when Rosholt reportedly scored a take down in the third round of the match, thus helping him to get a foot hold over the match. The fighter reportedly mauled Leben on the ground that apparently helped him to improve his position.

Rosholt utilized his wrestling moves to full extent as he moved swiftly jumping from half guard to side control where he trapped Leben’s arm against his head. The wonderfully crafted final move of his marked a beautifully executed arm-triangle choke. Leben desperately tried to free himself from the choke as he flopped around a bit, but that took him nowhere. Leben, unable to remove the choke nearly tapped out, then blatantly threw his legs in the air for a second. The next thing that was witnessed was Leben being unconscious during the middle of the third round.

The win marked Rosholt’s first UFC win over a guy who already has 12 had 12 UFC fights under his belt. “I knew Leben was coming after me. I wanted to TKO him or submit him,” said Rosholt after the match.
