New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja will replace Gautam Gambhir in the forthcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against England, beginning September 3.
Gambhir, who suffered blurred vision after he hit his head against the ground while taking a backward catch in the fourth and the final Test at The Oval, has been was diagnosed of mild concussion by sports physician and neurologist. He will be returning home.
“Gautam has been advised to take rest and is expected to recover spontaneously without any further medical intervention. He will be returning to India shortly. Ravindra Jadeja has been chosen as his replacement,” a BCCI press release stated.
“Gautam was sent for a precautionary CT and MRI scan of his head and neck which was reported as normal. However, he still complains of some visual disturbance and inability to focus on an object for long. The ophthalmologist (eye specialist) has reported Gautam’s eyes as perfectly normal and the symptoms have been put down to the mild concussion,” the statement said.
