Nov 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Marine Corps Marathon kicked off in Arlington, Virginia on Sunday and like every year even the latest event was a huge hit. Guarded with a stringent security system, the race was carried out with ease and no apparent threats.
As expected, the 26.2 mile race witnessed thousands of attendees. The men’s race was won by Air Force 2nd Lt. Jacob Bradosky. He finished the race in 2 hours 23 minutes 30 seconds. The second position was taken by Ronald Kurui, a native of Kenya. He finished the race in 2 hours 23 minutes 41 seconds. He was just 11 seconds behind the champion. He was followed by Sean Barrett, Marine Corps 1st Lt, who finished it in 2:24:08. About 21,856 runners could finish the Marine Corps Marathon. Jacob Bradosky, 23, is an Air Force 2nd Lt. He is also Wright State graduate, currently posted in Vandenberg Air Force Base near Santa Barbara, California. This is the fifth marathon of his life, as according to him, it’s the best one. He said that was a wonderful experience for him. However, running 26.2 miles is not a matter of joke, and therefore he was advised to run the first 20 miles by head and the second 6.2 miles by heart. Ronald Kurui injured his elbows and knees in the early part of the race and said that had he not fallen, he could have been the winner.
The Women’s race was won by Janet Cherobon, a nurse who finished the race with a wide margin in 2 hours 42 minutes 38 seconds. She was followed by Gina Slaby, who made it in 2:46:57. 30 year old Tezata Desalgn came third as she touched the finishing line by 2:50:37.
