Ishant joins Kumble, Pathan at net sessionApril 1st, 2008 - 9:28 pm ICT by admin
Ahmedabad, April 1 (IANS) India’s new pace sensation Ishant Sharma, who was out of the first Test against South Africa due to a finger injury, practised at the nets of the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera here Wednesday. It was not clear though whether Ishant would play the all-important second Test starting Thursday. He bowled to Yuvraj Singh in the practise session. Skipper Anil Kumble, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Piyush Chawla also attended the net session.
Team Physiotherapist Paul Close said a decision on Ishant’s fitness would be taken Wednesday, on the eve of the match. It remains to be seen though what combination India will pick up for the match. India fielded two pacers - Rudra Pratap Singh and Sreesanth in the drawn first Test in Chennai.
The Indian team, which trooped in the city in batches in morning, had only six of its players in the practise session that went for about two hours.
On the contrary, South Africa were present in their full strength and practised for more than three hours in the morning.
