Irani Trophy: Sehwag to lead Rest of India

Chennai, Sep 16 (IANS) Virender Sehwag will lead Rest of India against Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai in the Irani Trophy match at Nagpur from Oct 1-5.
Sehwag, who had a shoulder surgery in June, has been out of action since then. He is also not playing in the Champions Trophy, scheduled from Sep 22-Oct 5.
Tamil Nadu’s Subramaniam Badrinath is the vice-captain while West Bengal’s Wriddhiman Saha will keep the wickets.
The BCCI also announced the squad for the N.K. P. Salve Challenger series, which will also take place at Nagpur, from Oct 8-11.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead India Blue, Yuvraj Singh will captain India Red while Suresh Raina is India Green skipper.
Announcing the teams, Secretary Board of Control for cricket in India N. Srinivasan said in a release that Gautam Gambhir, who had to return to India from Sri Lanka due to a groin injury, will have his fitness assessed Thursday.
