IPL is not a sport: Achuthanandan
April 16th, 2010 - 3:56 pm ICT by IANS
Thiruvananthapuram, April 16 (IANS) Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan Friday said the Indian Premier League (IPL) was not a sport but big business involving money.
“IPL is not a sporting event instead it is a big business involving money. The details of the present controversy are being studied,” Achuthanandan said while interacting with reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting. The chief minister was asked about the alleged involvement of Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor in the Kochi franchise of the IPL.
Achuthanandan, however, did not respond when he was asked if Kerala would lose a minister on account of this fiasco.
Tharoor represents the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency and Achuthanandan and Tharoor do not share the best of relations.
