IPL a good warm-up for Windies tour: LeeMarch 13th, 2008 - 5:07 pm ICT by admin
Sydney, Mar.13 (ANI): Australian fast bowler Brett Lee says playing in the inaugural Indian Premier League would be good preparation for the West Indies tour that follows.
Lee said it would be difficult to go into the three-Test Caribbean tour without match practice.
“It would be pretty tough on the body. To continue playing cricket would be the best thing for us,” he told reporters here.
Lee said if the team went four or five weeks without playing it would recreate the issues players normally encountered in the pre-season.
Lee said he was disappointed not to be going to Pakistan, where he has toured previously with under-19 and academy sides.
Lee believes that if Australian players took part in the IPL series it might help defuse some of the controversies that occurred during India’s recent tour of Australia.
Lee said CA had not yet told the players of any plans for another one-day series to fill the gap created by the postponement of the Pakistan tour, but he would be guided by the latters wishes. (ANI)
