Intikhab rues woeful batting, fielding despite impressive win in second Test against NZ
December 8th, 2009 - 2:08 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Lahore, Dec.8 (ANI): Pakistan may have registered an impressive win against New Zealand in the second Test match, but coach Intikhab Alam is not at all happy with the team’s performance in the Wellington Test.
Alam said though he was happy by the way the team played, still there were some aspects of the game which needed massive improvement.
He is particularly worried about the lack lustre batting and fielding of the squad.
“I don’t want to spoil the victory celebrations but I am going to tell the players that they can’t win matches all the time if they drop so many catches and don’t properly utilise batting chances,” The Daily Times quoted Alam, as saying.
Even though Pakistan won the second game of the three match series by 141 runs, senior players including captain Mohammad Yousuf, Misbahul Haq, and Shoaib Malik spilled several catches during New Zealand’s second innings.
The team’s batting line-up also crumbled under some disciplined bowling by the Kiwis. It was Pakistan’s bowling and brilliant individual performance by Mohammad Asif , who played a pivotal role in helping the team level the series. (ANI)
