Injury-plagued Lee unsure of playing next summer’s Ashes
February 4th, 2010 - 2:02 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Feb 4(ANI): Injury-plagued Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has refused to guarantee continuing his Test cricket career until next summer’s Ashes series.
Lee said that he still has plenty of cricket left in him despite his elbow injury, but is unsure about the possibility of playing in the home Ashes series at the end of 2010.
“I have to work out what I want from cricket now. I’ll just see how the arm pulls up, see what’s in front of me, and see what things I want to tick off in terms of my cricketing life,” The Daily Telegraph quoted Lee, as saying.
“I’ll make that call when it’s appropriate. Hopefully there’s a bit of cricket left in me yet, but we’ll wait and see how things pan out,” he added.
The 33-year-old, who is scheduled to play for Kings XI in the Indian Premier League in March, also remains non-committal on when he will make his return.
“I’m still quite a few weeks off bowling at this point in time, but I’m comfortable with the way things are shaping up. I’m not really sure of a comeback date at this point in time, but I’m seeing my surgeon Thursday and we’ll know a lot more after that,” Lee said.
“It’s just a day to day thing. I’m getting constant physio, seeing each day how it all goes. The arm’s where all the pressure goes through, so I won’t really know until I get out there and start bowling again,” he added. (ANI)
