Injured Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard out for rest of season
April 8th, 2011 - 9:39 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 8(ANI): Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.
Gerrard had returned to training a week ago after a groin operation in early March, but sustained a similar problem last Friday.
The 30-year-old has spent the week undergoing assessment and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish confirmed the worst at the club’s Melwood training ground.
“We still don’t know definitively what the problem is. We will wait to get a precise answer from the people that he has to see, but he won’t be involved again this season,” the BBC quoted Dalglish, as saying.
Gerrard last played for Liverpool on March 6 during the 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League. (ANI)
