New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) Indian tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi’s French Open campaign in mixed doubles ended in a heartbreak as he pulled out of the semifinal Thursday due to an injury. Bhupathi, who was partnering China’s Jie Zheng, was scheduled to play top seeds Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia and Serbia’s Nenad Zimonjic for a place in the final.
Bhupathi, who strained his calf muscle earlier this year, aggravated the injury during the quarter-final match against against France’s Virginie Razzano and Rogier Wassen of he Netherlands.
The 34-year-old would not have liked to take a chance with Wimbledon and the Beijing Olympics round the corner.
