Infidelity rumours could hit Rooney hard
September 7th, 2010 - 12:44 am ICT by IANSLondon, Sep 6 (IANS) Ace footballer Wayne Rooney could lose millions if he loses his sponsorship deals following infidelity claims.
Earlier this year the Sunday Times Rich List revealed he is worth $50.68 million - after pocketing $23.80 million a year through his football salary and a series of off-the-field deals.
Rooney earns $11.23 million from his image rights and has also racked up lucrative sponsorships with Nike, Coca-Cola and EA Sports.
The footballer’s biggest commercial earner is Harper Collins, with whom he signed the biggest sports book deal in publishing history - a $7.6-million advance plus royalties for a minimum of five books over a 12-year period at an annual $1,152,894, reports mirror.co.uk.
The loss of Nike, Coca-Cola and EA Sports would hit him hard, though Coca-Cola and EA said: “This is a private matter⦠no comment.”
Other global brands could also put off future deals with Rooney, who has profited from previous contracts with Asda, Nokia, Ford, Mercedes and Tiger Beer.
