Indo-Pak World Cup semi-final clash will “charge up” Pakistani players: Ramiz Raja
March 25th, 2011 - 2:11 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Mar 25(ANI): The mouth-watering Pakistan-India clash in the 2011 World Cup semi-final match in Mohali on March 30 will definitely charge up the Pakistan team, former captain Ramiz Raja has said.
“As they are playing against India at Mohali in the semi final, it will definitely charge up the players because I know from experience that playing in India always brings out something special in our cricketers,” The Nation quoted Ramiz, as saying.
India beat Australia by five wickets in its quarterfinal match in Ahmedabad to enter the semi-final on Thursday.
“I don’t think we have anything to fear” from the fact that India has made it to the top four slot, said Ramiz.
He believed it would be difficult to break the winning momentum of the Pakistan team after their thumping ten-wicket win over West Indies in quarterfinals on Wednesday, and said that Shahid Afridi and his men now stood a good chance of becoming the world champions.
“I credit this welcome change in the Pakistan team to an improved dressing room atmosphere, strong bench strength and the management’s will to enforce discipline and make strong selection decisions,” the former captain told a TV channel from Dhaka.
Ramiz, a member of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning team and a noted commentator and expert, said that in his long career in Pakistan cricket, he had never seen a more united outfit where players were keen to fight for their places. (ANI)
