Somdev Devvarman New Delhi, Oct 6 (ANI): Indian tennis star Somdev Devvarman entered the men’s singles quarterfinals with a thumping 6-0 6-1 win over unseeded Sri Lankan Amresh Jayawickreme in the second round of the tennis competition of the XIXth Commonwealth Games today.

Somdev easily defeated the Lankan. The latter hardly posed a challenge to Somdev.

He was up 40-0 in the first game, but could not pocket it, committing far too many unforced errors, to hand Somdev a break.

The Indian tennis ace wrapped up the opening set in just 20 minutes.

Somdev will next clash with the winner of the match between Scotland’s Colin Fleming and Rubin Statham of New Zealand.

Indian tennis stars Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna are also scheduled to play their singles second round matches today. (ANI)
