India’s campaign in Vietnam Grand Prix Open over

New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS) India’s campaign in Vietnam Grand Prix Open badminton got over Saturday after Ajay Jayaram and R.M.V. Gurusaidutt bowed out of the men’s singles semifinals at Ho Chih Minh city.

Jayaram, seeded fifth gave a fright to second-seeded Sho Sasaki of Japan before going down 21-12, 14-21, 16-21 after a 52-minute battle.

In contrast, 12th-seeded Gurusaidutt lost in straight games 14-21, 12-21 to top seed Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam.

Indian women’s singles players - P.V. Sindhu, Aditi Mutatkar and Arundhati Pantawane - have already crashed out of the event.
