minkaIndianapolis, Oct 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) NFL player Pat McAfee is making headlines lately but not for reasons that his fans can be very proud of. The Indianapolis Colts punter was taken into custody for public intoxication but it seems that the worst is not over for the player as yet. In the wake of the rather embarrassing incident, his team Indianapolis Colts has taken the decision to suspend him for a game on Wednesday.

A statement has been released by Bill Polian, the president of the Indianapolis Colts that read that after going through all the relevant facts pertaining to the incident, it has been decided that Pat McAfee would be suspended for one game for displaying conduct that was detrimental to the team. The statement further went on to clarify that suspension would be effective from Monday, October 25 and would continue through the Houston game on Monday, November 1. At the same time, it has been pointed out that the team would not be making any comments in this regard at this time. As the Indianapolis Colts have a bye-week, the 23-year-old player would be missing out on the Monday night football game against the Houston Texans which is scheduled to take place on November 1.

According to reports, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police arrested Pat McAfee after he took a pre-dawn swim in a city canal. When the authorities asked him the reason for being wet at the Broad Ripple neighborhood, the player replied by saying that he was drunk. Pat McAfee turned out to be the fourth player of Indianapolis Colts to be taken into custody for alcohol-related charges in 2010.
