Indianapolis, Oct 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jim Irsay was born on June 13, 1959 in Lincolnwood, Illinois to a Jewish father (Robert Irsay) and a Polish mother. He is also the owner of the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. According to the Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans, Irsay’s rank is 347th with his wealth of $1.1 billion.
According to reports, Irsay owes his wealth almost entirely to the greatly increased value of the Colts’ franchise, which is due to the sweetheart Lucas Oil Stadium agreement. This controversial lopsided agreement made Irsay a Billionaire by increasing the worth of his Colt’s franchise but it also landed the Capital Improvement Board, and by extension, the Indianapolis taxpayers, deeply in debt.
He has become a billionaire entirely on account of the Indianapolis taxpayers but he has been very stingy with his wealth. Last year when East Indianapolis was hit by a tornado and the southern part got the floods, then he contributed a measly $50,000 towards the relief fund, in aid.
Jim is a lover of rock music. It is rumored that he brings his guitar on Colts road trips and will play until the wee hours in the morning.
He was born and later attended high school at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb just north of Chicago, Illinois. Irsay graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1982.
