Indian wrestlers make a strong start
July 10th, 2009 - 10:03 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, July 10 (IANS) Indian wrestlers made a strong start in the Asian Greco Roman Style, Free Style and Female Junior Wrestling Championship at Manila, Philippines, winning eight medals on the opening day Friday.
India won two gold, one silver and five bronze medals in the 12 weight categories decided Friday.
Suresh Yadav won gold in the 60 kg Greco Roman style. Manoj (55kg), Manjit (55kg), Rupender (96kg) and Rakesh Hooda (120kg) all bagged bronze medals, according to a Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) release.
Among women wrestlers, Navjot Kaur won gold in the 72 kg. Sakshi Malik bagged silver medal in the 59 kg while Anju Chaudhary grabbed bronze medal in the 51 kg.
