Indian women’s hockey team edge past Canada
June 16th, 2010 - 6:35 pm ICT by IANSLondon, June 16 (IANS) The Indian women’s hockey team beat Canada 3-2 in the first Test at Tamanawis Park in Surrey Wednesday.
India opened the scoring through captain Surinder Kaur from a penalty corner in the 15th minute.
Thea Culley levelled it for Canada in the 41st minute before Ritu Rani gave back the lead to India, converting a penalty corner in the 53rd minute. Rani Rampal added to the tally in the 61st minute.
Robyn Pewdleton scored another goal for Canada eight minutes later.
The second Test in the four match series shall be played at the same venue Thursday.
