Indian women beat Bahrain 3-1, win football series
September 24th, 2011 - 8:39 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Indian women defeated Bahrain 3-1 in their last match to win the three-match international series 2-1.
According to information received here, Kamala Devi (25th), Pinky Bompal Magar (28th) and Parmashori Devi (42nd) scored for India in the match played in Bahrain.
India had earlier defeated Bahrain 2-1 in the opening match of the series while going down 0-2 in the second international friendly.
“The victory proves our girls are not lagging behind. We had an eventful camp in Lucknow and the results are showing,” said India’s chief coach Mohammad Shahid Jabbar.
Skipper Sasmita Malik said the team capitalised on the chances that came its way.
“It feels great to win an international series. The team spirit was high all throughout and facilitated our victory. We capitalised on the chances that came our way,” she said.
