Indian football team to play Oman, Azerbaijan
February 3rd, 2012 - 3:25 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Kolkata, Feb 3 (IANS) The Indian football team will play two international friendlies in Oman and Azerbaijan later this month in the runup to the AFC Challenge Cup in Kathmandu.
India will take on Oman in Muscat Feb 23 before flying to Dubai for the game against Azerbaijan Feb 27, an All India Football Federation (AIFF) release said Friday.
Both Oman and Azerbaijan are ranked higher than India in the FIFA rankings. Oman occupies the 90th slot, Azerbaijan the 111th and India the 158th.
The AFC Challenge Cup will be held in Kathmandu March 8-19. The winners will qualify for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
