Indian challenge ends in Pune ITF tournament

Pune, Oct 16 (IANS) Fourth-seeded Miki Miyamura and sixth seeded French girl Elodie Rogge Dietrich stopped the winning run of Indian juniors - wild card entrant Ankita Raina and Prerna Bhambri - to set up a clash in Saturday’s final of the $10,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament here.
In the semifinals played Friday, the 730th-ranked Rogge scored a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over Delhi girl Prerna while the 547th-ranked Miyamura topped Pune’s Raina 6-1, 6-0.

Miyamura also placed herself in line for a double crown. Moe Kawatoko and Miyamura, the second seeds, easily toppled the top seeded Indian duo of Rushmi Chakravarthi and Sanaa Bhambri 6-3, 6-1 in the doubles final.
