India women?s hockey captain to be honoured
October 26th, 2011 - 1:23 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Oct 26 (IANS) Indian women?s hockey team captain Saba Anjum will get Chhattisgarh’s top Gundadhur sports award, official sources said Wednesday.
“The award will be conferred on Saba Anjum as she is a real gem in hockey,” an official told IANS.
The annual award is given to a person who brings honour to the state in sports at national and international levels. It carries a cash prize of Rs.100,000 and a citation.
Anjum, 24, will receive the award Nov 1 here at a function to mark the foundation anniversary of Chhattisgarh, carved out from Madhya Pradesh in 2000. Anjum belongs to Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
